Passage: John 1:19-34
One day I'll go to Heaven not because of what I did for God, but because of what God did for me. That's so true. It's not that I can go to Heaven and say to God, "You have to let me in, look what I did for You! I was a pastor, I helped all those people, look how many times I prayed, look at how much I gave!" God has put Himself in a position to win that argument as He points to the cross. "Look what you did for Me? Look at what I did for you." He wins every time! It's pride and ignorance inside of us that thinks that we should plan our lives, as if its ours to designate those things. What does the Bible say? We were bought with a price. We were dead in our trespasses and sins were bought from that death. We were bought with the precious blood of Jesus Christ. We're supposed to be living sacrifices unto God. Here I am God. What I say, what I do, where I go, what I accomplish - is it what You want, God?
