Passage: Matthew 5:20-26
Jesus says, "You're doing what you heard, the tradition says if you do these things, you'll be good with God. But you shouldn't go by what you heard." Jesus is the authority to interpret the law. The law means, this is the standard, unless your righteousness exceeds the righteousness of the Pharisees, unless your faith in Me is sincere and from the heart, you will never enter the kingdom of Heaven. Our new life in Jesus empowers us to no longer obey Him out of fear, but instead a deep seated love for Him.
